Jacob Burk is a dedicated violist and teaching artist who blends technical mastery with a deeply personal approach to mentorship. Currently pursuing his Doctor of Music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music with Atar Arad, Jacob’s path as a musician has been shaped by resilience, curiosity, and a commitment to making music an emotionally grounded and accessible experience.

After beginning his musical journey as a Suzuki student, Jacob went on to study with Mikhail Galaganov and Elias Goldstein and began cultivating his teaching philosophy. His artistry has been recognized through solo and chamber performances across the country, and was featured on The Violin Channel for a Music for Food performance. He has performed with symphonies and chamber ensembles throughout Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

As a teacher, Jacob has successfully guided students to high placements in the Texas All-State Orchestra, as well as regional ensembles across Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. He has served as artistic faculty at the Music School of Delaware, and is a Suzuki-certified instructor with a passion for nurturing individual growth through long-term mentorship. Jacob has also been invited as a guest artist and clinician at music institutes and festivals throughout the U.S.

Jacob believes that learning music is not just about developing skill — it’s about discovering your voice. His students often share how lessons with him have helped them become more confident, expressive, and emotionally attuned. He approaches every lesson with care, adaptability, and a belief that all students deserve to feel both challenged and supported.

"He doesn’t just teach technique — he teaches how to connect music to life."

"Lessons with Jacob made me fall in love with music again."

Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your artistry, Jacob brings experience, empathy, and a musician’s soul to every student’s journey.
